Bangladesh in Eliška´s heart

Eliška Hronková is the coordinator of the project  Chalantika . In autumn 2021 she travelled to Bangladesh for a monitoring trip for the very first time. The fears of developing a disease as well as the fears of spiders and snakes were replaced by joy, unforgettable moments with children, princess afternoons, volleyball matches and photoshoots with soldiers.

Photoreport: Chalantika Children excited to go for a trip!

Last Wednesday, 106 children from the slum education center Chalantika went on a trip to the  DNCC Wonderland  theme park. Since early morning there was a lot of enthusiasm in the air. For younger children, it was the first trip outside the slum in life. Plus, the kids just got brand new uniforms! The first attraction was already the bus ride itself. Children were cheering for their driver to race with other buses and even singing some songs.

Malfini a.s. helps slum children with education

Responsible business with respect to the local community is a basic principle and a key value for company Malfini, a.s., one of the biggest European textile producers and distributors. The company supports several underdeveloped regions related to its commercial activities. A great amount of its production originates also in Bangladesh, where the company in cooperation with NGO ADRA helps slum children to achieve education.

A future president? No, I'd rather be a doctor!

In Arabic, "Raisa" means a director, chief, or president. But Raisa doesn´t want to be a president, she dreams about becoming a doctor so she could help poor children. She herself visits doctors' offices often because she suffers from conjunctivitis. Her eyes are sometimes filled with unwanted tears.

Good-scooter on the way through Asia

From time to time someone knocks on the door of the ADRA who has a good idea of ​​helping others. We have the door open and we love to hear everyone who has a plan. One such good soul was Marek Jelinek. He came and said that he would be glad if his future advature could get another dimension. He said he saw some of our video about Bangladesh, and he would like to visit local schools and help the children we support there. And then it came, "I'm going to drive through Asia with my scooter." You should see our expressions. But we did not even know that Marek had gone on a scooter continent.

New Book: We, Children of the Slum

The new book "We, Children of the Slum" is a surprisingly optimistic insight into the lives of the underprivileged children and people living in Bangladesh. It contains their real stories and more than 150 unique and commented photographs taken by a man known as the “Photographer without a Talent”. He expressed his efforts to help Bangladeshi children in Chalantika slum educational centre with these words:  "When you support one child, you will not change the world. But you will change his whole world."
