Mums Gain Skills to Start Small Businesses
Mums supported by the Chalantika Educational Centre have successfully completed vocational courses in tailoring and food processing. Graduates received certificates as well as practical support – sewing machines and electric stoves – which will help them become self-reliant, increase their income, and support their families.
Mums supported by the Chalantika Educational Centre celebrated completing vocational courses in tailoring and food processing. A total of 10 participants successfully finished the tailoring course, and 9 women completed the food processing course.
Graduates received certificates and practical support to help them start their own small businesses. Mums from the tailoring course were given sewing machines, while those from the food processing course received electric stoves, providing the tools they need to earn a stable income.
The event was attended by ADRA Bangladesh’s Program Director, Shimu Shikder, who encouraged the graduates, saying: "These educational programmes are designed to empower you. With this support, your children can continue their studies and you can build a better future. Our goal is for you to be self-reliant and confident."
The ceremony was full of joy and gratitude. The new skills and equipment give participants the opportunity to increase their income, support their families, and become active members of their communities. These courses are vital not only for the mums themselves but also for their children. They strengthen women’s positions, boost earnings, and give them the confidence to support their families independently.
One of the mums, Nahar (35), said: "I am very grateful to ADRA Bangladesh for organising this wonderful course. Thanks to the tailoring training, I will be able to increase my income and take better care of my family."
Shirin (36), who completed the food processing course, added: "This course was very important for me. I learned a lot and now I am able to earn an income and support my family."
Through a combination of education and practical tools, ADRA CSCDP is helping participants build a brighter and more secure future – for themselves and their children.

We sincerely thank all our donors and partners, especially MALFINI and the Wavestone Corporate Foundation.
