Children in Chalantika received 80 new school uniforms
At the end of June, we handed over 80 new school uniforms at the Chalantika Centre in Dhaka. For children from low-income families, the uniforms are much more than just school clothing. They help reduce visible differences between classmates, boost their confidence, and reassure them that they belong in the classroom just like everyone else.
More than just clothing: Equality and pride in the classroom
A uniform is more than just a piece of school clothing. It helps reduce visible differences between classmates and reinforces the feeling that they truly belong at school. Thanks to their uniforms, children can feel like an equal part of the group and enter the classroom with greater confidence.
For low-income families, receiving a uniform also provides direct financial relief. Household funds that would otherwise be spent on school clothing can be redirected to essential needs, such as food or medicine. The new uniforms thus help remove one of the practical barriers that can make regular school attendance difficult for children.
Before the distribution, teachers carefully checked the lists of participating children and their sizes to ensure every boy and girl received a well-fitting uniform. In total, 80 sets of uniforms were handed out – 55 to girls and 25 to boys.

The children greeted the distribution with great joy and excitement. Some immediately tried on their new uniforms, eager to wear them to class for the first time.
Among those who received a uniform was nine-year-old Kadija, who expressed her delight simply:
“I’m so happy. My new uniform is beautiful and it really suits me.”
Her words serve as a reminder that even something seemingly ordinary can mean the world to a child. A new uniform brings not only practical support, but also joy, confidence, and the reassurance that their education matters.
Removing barriers to education together
Supporting education is about more than just textbooks and classroom teaching. Sometimes, it means helping to remove the practical obstacles that can make it harder for a child to attend school.
